TOUGHBOOK 40 Certifications and Durability
Panasonic has defined a rugged technology industry by strict adherance to ensuring the TOUGHBOOK line of computers meet or exceed the expectations, demands and requirements of challenging environments. With an Ingress Protection (IP) level of 66, (see our sister company Rugged or Die complete blog about Computer Ingress Protection Here) the TOUGHBOOK 40 is protected against even the smallest ingress of solids such as dust as well as water proofed against forceful jets of water from all angles. Protecting sensitive components, the rugged durability features of the FZ-40 are some of the most agressive and truly defines rugged tech. Meeting or exceeding both MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G ratings (see our sister company Rugged or Die blog about MIL-STD-810H ratings here) the Panasonic FZ-40 is built for anything from industrial use to tactical military field application. Panasonic has created optional configurations of the TOUGHBOOK 40 to be ANSI Hazardous Location (C1D2) rated allowing the FZ-40 to enter C1D2 rated zones such as locations on oil and gas platforms and refineries. With a drop rating of 6 feet onto concrete, the FZ-40 can withstand all but the harshest of treatments. Panasonic has ensured that all the TOUGHBOOK lines meet environmental safety certifications such as certifying the FZ-40 with EPEAT and voluntarily complying with the US EPA standards to achieve an Energy Star Qualification.

The Panasonic FZ-40 fully rugged laptop joins the TOUGHBOOK computer family with a full suite of both hardware add ons and accessories. Featuring the innovative Panasonic xPAK system, an FZ-40 features manufacturer (OEM) designed and built hardware add ons that are user installable and removable. Able to be installed on most FZ-40 configurations, the xPAK options range from additional solid state drives and storage to additional interface ports to smart card or barcode readers. The xPAK system allows the FZ-40 to be multi-function adaptiable and fulfill multi-mission parameters as well as evolve to suit changing needs. Accessories such as extra batteries, multi-bay battery chargers, desktop docks and vehicle mounting and docking bring the functionality and utility options for the FZ-40 to industry defining heights.
